Tips and tricks

Protect your windscreen from frost using a potato!
To avoid having to scratch your car’s windscreen clear of ice in the morning, you can easily rub it in with the inside of a potato. Just cut it in half and rub it in before you go to bed.

No more damp windows
If your windows are damp on the insides on a cold morning, try cleaning it in advance using a bit of detergent beforehand to avoid this from happening.

Stubborn locks
By adding a bit of graphite powder inside the lock mechanism (insert your key multiple times), or by simply taping the locks, you can avoid frosted stubborn locks.

Prepare your car for winter
Make sure the following parts of your car is checked before the winter cold: the battery, coolant, the amount of antifreeze in your coolant and wiper fluid, the wipers itself, front and rear lights, the engine oil and your fuel filter.

Not all at once!
It’s not necessary to use all of your road salt at once. Make sure you clear the surface of snow first, and then add a thin layer of salt. The more you walk or drive over it, the better the effect it will be.

Take care of your hands
Even though there are no harmful chemicals to be found in our salt, we still recommend using gloves or a scoop to scatter the salt. If you do use your hands, remember to wash them after you’re done.

Keep your salt moist-free!
Our road salt is best preserved in a dry area, to avoid clotting. If you preserve your salt well, it can be stored for years.
